Although Ruidoso has grown over the last decade, the Village still remains a wonderful place to raise a family, start a business, pursue a life-long hobby in retirement and in many ways … get away from it all. Relatively small in population, the entire Ruidoso Valley which includes the communities of Ruidoso, Alto and Ruidoso Downs barely tops 14,000 full-time residents. Pretty unpopulated considering the Village of Ruidoso is surrounded by millions of acres of pristine forest land and scenic high desert.

Ruidoso remains an excellent value considering all it offers. Property values in many resort communities have risen to the point that they are no longer affordable except for the very wealthy. Although average costs of new home construction and resale homes have taken pretty healthy bounces in the past decade, the prices in the Ruidoso area still much lower compared to similar mountain resort communities like Taos and Sante Fe in New Mexico, Durango and Telluride in Colorado and Prescott, Flagstaff and Sedona in Arizona.

An incredibly diverse topography surrounds us in every direction … the Sacramento Mountains, the Sierra Blanca Range, the Capitan Mountains, the great Tularosa Basin with White Sand National Monument, the Hondo Valley, and sublime mesas stretching out into the horizons makes for a never ending change of scenery as you travel our corner of the world.
